IMPORTANT EDIT : after some people's remarks, I have to state clearly that this is not a single image. The image you can see above is the cover of a small "album" in .pdf form. Plz read the instructions below to download the .pdf file and view what this deviation is all about. Thank you. /EDIT

Should it fit, the title would be :

Chania - Images of the Past in the Time of Present

This is my tribute to my hometown, Chania, Crete, Greece, for the year that we left behind.

In order to see the photos you have to click the download button on the left of the preview to download a .pdf file. I'm sorry for the size of the file, but I thought it would be better to keep an acceptable quality instead of a small file size. The file contains 21 A4 pages in 96 dpi resolution so it is almost acceptable for printing - should you feel like doing so. I have made the file PDF/1.5 compatible, meaning that you should not have any problem viewing it, if you have Acrobat Reader 6.0 or above. If there is any problem with the file or the downloading process, please drop me a note to fix it. I'm sorry for any incovenience, it is the first .pdf resource that I upload here on dA. The best way to view the file is to choose the option Facing Page Layout from the View menu of the Acrobat Reader.

I received some feedback that there is a problem with the download process. If the process won't work for you, the file is available for download here (winRAR archive ~9MB) or here (.pdf file ~11.5MB). Sorry for the incovenience.

I have already written too much about the file, instead of focusing on its content, so let's get to this!

Since I left Chania for studies, the need to come back, explore and try to capture in images what surrounds me in this place has become stronger and stronger. In this series of photos I have tried to isolate images of this town that tell of its past, that make the visitor think of living in a different era. Photos that mark the present of different cultures that have passed through this land from time to time.

I have used my film camera and a few rolls of film as my tools for this work. I have not employed digital means, simply the black and white nature of the films that give this wonderfull oldish effect that made me love b&w photography. Note that some of the photographs included may already be found in my gallery.

I really hope you like this small "album"!

As with all the works I post here, you are free to copy, print, distribute, modify it as long as you don't do it for commercial reasons, you mention my name and the derivatives of your work have a similar licencing scheme.
